Contemporary New Home

Ashlea is a bespoke new build dwelling in Fife, designed by Crew Architects to replace an existing, poorly performing property on the edge of the village. While our usual approach prioritises adaptation and improvement, the opportunities presented by this site and the ambition of the client’s brief made replacement the most considered and sustainable solution.

The project delivers a contemporary family home that responds directly to its setting, orientation, and long-distance views, while maintaining a modest presence within the village streetscape.

​Architectural Approach

A modern open‑plan living space maximises the southerly aspect and distant views, while responding to the site’s differing levels. The ground floor includes a bedroom, bathroom and utility, with three further bedrooms above, one doubling as a snug. The garage is accessed via a covered walkway from the main entrance.

• Carefully positioned glazing to frame views and maximise daylight

• Open-plan living spaces balanced with more intimate private  areas

• A refined external material palette suited to the rural Fife context. Rustic brick chosen as opposed to stone
