In line with our approach to residential projects involving existing structures, our primary objective is to enhance the relationship between internal living spaces and the surrounding garden area while addressing spatial constraints that may hinder the garden's enjoyment.
In this specific case, we have merged two rear rooms to create an open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area, providing a comfortable space for family relaxation. To achieve this, we have added a new glazed extension, creating a well-lit dining alcove with picturesque views of the rear garden.
The design of the extension focuses on visual minimalism and harmonious integration with the existing structure. Salvaged stone has been reused around new openings and existing downtakings to ensure a seamless transition between old and new, while the extension is capped with a slim-profiled flat roof featuring a high-quality standing seam metal cover.
Additional enhancements on the ground floor include the introduction of new garden access points from the living area and a new rear utility space. Double doors now connect the rear living area with the hall, offering a clear sightline from the entrance to the rear garden when the doors are open. Furthermore, a newly added shower room on the top floor supplements the existing bathroom facilities, resulting in a fully functional and comfortable home for our clients.
