Proposed extension and internal alterations to a Grade II Listed Property.

The project introduced new extensions and interventions that resolved entrance and circulation issues to the North side of the house under the original ‘cat slide’ roof, and saw the relocation of the kitchen and informal dining area to better connect with the expansive garden lawn to the South and new landscaped garden to the East.

The extensions adopt recognisable vernacular pitched roof forms but are treated with contemporary detailing to the  eaves, verge, flat roof dormer, clay tile roof and wall tile cladding. There is also the inclusion of the vast cantilevered corner to the dining area enclosed by glass sliders on two sides, and the new glazed gable to the relocated staircase on the North elevation, illuminating the previously dark historic interior. The internal works to the original house were largely focused on revealing previously hidden details and features of the timber framed building.

To the North, the glazed gable stained timber frame extends into a low single storey timber clad wall which in time will link into a new workshop that will enclose the driveway entrance area and  visually close off the garden beyond.
